Australia's Head Of State Should Be An Australian Citizen

Over the last year, Federal MPs from all sides of politics have been disqualified from holding parliamentary office due to dual citizenship.

But what they all had in common was Australian citizenship. Australia's head of state - the British Monarch - doesn't even have that. Yet when our parliamentarians are elected they have to swear allegiance to the British Queen instead of the Australian people.

Australia's head of state should be an Australian citizen, chosen by Australians.
