Monarchy:
They’re back!

Get ready to wave goodbye to royal reign.

It’s been over a decade since Monarchy have toured down under - and the unelected line-up at the top of our democracy inherit Australia’s headline act by birthright.

They’ve been waving at us for decades - and now it’s time for us to wave back.

Join us in celebrating Monarchy: The Farewell Oz Tour. We hope you enjoy the show before Monarchy makes way for the Aussie headliners to come…

Because Australia’s future is our own.

WHAT’S THE CAMPAIGN ABOUT?

For the first time in over a decade, a sitting monarch is visiting Australia.

40% of Australians don’t realise that London-based King Charles III is Australia’s head of state. He was never elected, endorsed or appointed - he landed the gig by birthright and it’s his for life, before being passed onto William, George and their heirs.

Australia’s constitutional monarchy can be difficult to understand. So it’s time to change the conversation – and time to give the royal wave goodbye.

Think Elton’s Yellow Brick Road Tour and Farnham’s The Last Time. It’s time to wave goodbye to royal reign with Monarchy: The Farewell Oz Tour!

With thanks to our campaign partners at Bureau of Everything, we’ve created a bold, light-hearted campaign that resets the conversation about the future of the monarchy in Australia.

It’s time for Australia to say, ‘Thanks, but we’ve got it from here’.

Expect to see big names leading the conversation all over Australia as we wave goodbye to royal reign.

Our Research

🎸 92% of Australians are open to becoming a republic.

🎸 60% of Australians say they’d prefer an Australian head of state to King Charles III.

🎸 Australians want a Commander-in-Chief, an Advocate-in-Chief, a Promoter-in-Chief, a Champion-in-Chief, a Guardian-in-Chief and a Representative-in-Chief.

🎸 Australians want a republic that stays in the Commonwealth, retains economic and defence alliances like AUKUS, and makes minimal changes to our current model.

🎸 Australians expect a full-time, fully committed head of state, who is unwaveringly loyal to us, representing today’s Australia and our values – a unifying symbol at home and abroad, who is elected on merit.

We’re hosting events where you can raise a glass and bid farewell to Monarchy. Here’s the line up!

Why does Australia Still have a King?

With over 65 millennia of First Nations culture, over two centuries of European settlement and British institutions, and today’s richly diverse communities, Australia is the most successful multicultural nation on Earth.

Some of us have ancestors who’ve been here tens of thousands of years. Some of us have ancestors who arrived on prison ships. Some of us have chosen more recently to adopt Australia as our home. And yet we are all Australian. We are all equal: we believe in fairness, integrity and democracy, and we look forward to an even brighter future.

So why does Australia still have a king? It doesn’t make sense. So let’s all enjoy Monarchy – The Farewell Oz Tour as the last tour of a reigning monarch, and let’s make the very most of this opportunity to look at our future as Australians. Because the monarchy of a foreign nation cannot represent fairness, integrity and democracy for today’s Australia, and nor can a head of state anointed by birthright.

The future Australian republic is our opportunity to unite our community and take control of our own destiny. It’s a chance to write our future together by putting the power of Australian democracy back into the people’s hands. A future where we choose an Australian to represent us – someone accountable only to us, working for us full-time, loyal to Australia and only Australia.

Let’s wave goodbye to royal reign 👋
