On 6 November 1999, a national referendum to allow Australians to have an Australian as our nation’s head of state was narrowly defeated. 20 years on, a renewed and unified movement of Australian republicans is re-committing to advancing these important and overdue reforms. With tens of thousands of Australians joining the campaign in recent years, there has never been greater momentum for change.
Join us in the King's Hall, Old Parliament House from 7pm on 26 November to reflect on Australia's progression towards independence, and to hear past and present parliamentary leaders share their vision for the realisation of the long-awaited Australian republic.
Speakers include:
Hon Malcolm Turnbull, Former Prime Minister and ARM Founder
Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Federal Leader of the Australian Labor Party
Senator Richard Di Natale, Federal Leader of the Australian Greens
