The Republic Youth Series

Do you know a young person who wants to help make a republic happen?

Applications are now open for The Republic Youth Series, a first-of-its-kind program for young people to build the essential skills to win a referendum and learn directly from Australian leaders.

What is the Republic Youth Series?

The Republic Youth Series is a monthly series running once a month from February to August 2026. Sessions run for two hours online and are held in the evenings.

To participate, you must be a young Australian under aged 30 and under. Membership is not necessary – all youth participants will receive one year free Australian Republic Movement membership for their participation.

Program Topics

The program includes:

  • Opening Session: What Went Wrong in ‘99?, featuring former Prime Ministerof Australia Malcolm Turnbull (February)

  • Session 1: How to Make People Care (March)

  • Session 2: Persuading Across the Political Spectrum, panel discussion featuring Deputy Leaders of the Greens Mehreen Faruqi + more speakers TBC (April)

  • Session 3: Battling Misinformation (May)

  • Session 4: Winning Media and Social Media, with Amy Remeikis (June)

  • Session 5: Building a Sovereign National Identity (July)

  • Session 6: Co-Design of a Youth Charter (August) – a collective statement created by participants about why young people demand a republic.
